RACING THE TEXAS TIME TRIALS - TWO WEEKS OUT
Training Tips by multisport endurance coach Tom Rodgers
Author of The Perfect Distance: Training for Long-Course Triathlons
Posted 10-10-2006
Many of us have fallen in love with cycling in the Cleburne/Glen Rose area. Although the peaks are not
as spectacular as the Rocky Mountains, nor the winds as strong as Florida or Hawaii, indeed there is enough
climbing, wind and other "Texas hospitality" to make this a challenging 20-mile loop. So challenging that no
one has yet to crack the 425-mile standard for RAAM qualification in the 24-hour venue, which spawned a
longer 500-mile qualifier after the first year. The 12- and 6-hour versions have also become very popular,
mixing road racers and triathletes into the regular ultracycling mix. Even the 12-hour race has never reported
an average speed breaking...

INSIDER TIPS
Posted 9-12-2006
Have you seen the Texas Time Trials Trophies? They are the best! And here
are some tips guaranteed to get you one:
-
We have never had a Male-Male Tandem team enter this
race, doing so would almost assure you of a pair of first place Trophies.
-
Also, currently we do not yet have any Single Females signed up for the 6 or the
24 hour event.
-
As of today we have no Mixed Tandems signed up for any event,
nor do we have any Mixed teams for the 12 or 24 hour races.
-
We do have two person and four person (all male) teams for The Tejas 500, a
female-female 12 hour tandem team, a 24 hour recumbent, a 12 hour mixed
team, and a two person 12 hour recumbent team.
-
We now have a NEW race division, single speed Chopper bikes, he signed up for the 24 hour race.
I really like some of the Team names we are getting, today "Team Assassin" signed
up. So, hurry and send your registration forms in today and If you want to
earn a trophy the easy way, just heed these insider tips.
